Another Missing Nigerian Student, Olisa Odukwe Found Dead In Bristol Harbour, UKOlisa Odukwe, a Nigerian student in the United Kingdom, has been found dead after he was declared missing last Saturday.

Police divers searching for the missing Bristol University student found his body in Bristol Harbour, near Narrow Quay, on Tuesday afternoon, May 4.

The 20-year-old was last seen at his home in Redland at 7 am on Saturday, May 1, with his disappearance sparking an urgent police appeal.

The heartbreaking news of his death was shared publicly online after friends and teammates from his University of Bristol Association Football club had searched nearby Leigh Woods.

Friends of Odukwe, who was in his second year at the university, described his disappearance as “completely out of character“.

However, giving an isolate on Wednesday, Avon and Somerset Police said divers recovered a body from Bristol Harbour and the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Formal identification has not yet been carried out but Odukwe’s family has been informed.

The Police stated; 

Yesterday afternoon, police divers located and recovered the body of a man in Bristol Harbour, near Narrow Quay.

While formal identification has not yet been carried out, we have updated the family of missing 20-year-old Bristol student Olisa Odukwe. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

In light of new information, we are now grieving the loss of our dear friend Olisa.

Olisa was universally loved; a kind, gentle and funny character who brought a smile to the face of whoever he was with.

Thank you all for your phenomenal support across the last few days. Please keep Olisa’s family and friends in your thoughts at this difficult time.

Rest In Peace Olisa.

His death comes a Nigerian student, Richard Okorogheye was also found dead by Police authorities in the UK on April 7 in a pond in Essex.

The 19-year-old, who had sickle cell disease, had not been seen by his family since March 22 when he left home in Ladbroke Grove.

A post-mortem found no evidence of physical trauma or assault while the cause of death was pending as further investigations were ongoing.
