FG Announces Phase IV Of COVID-19 Eased Lockdown, Restores curfew, Restriction On Mass GatheringsFederal Government has on Monday, May 10 announced Phase IV of COVID-19 eased lockdown across all 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 during a briefing in Abuja, the new directive is to take effective by midnight of Tuesday, May 11.

During the briefing,  the committee re-introduced a nationwide 12am to 4am curfew to curtail further spread of COVID-19.

National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Mohammed, disclosed this, saying the curfew would take effect from midnight on Monday.

He also said with effect from Tuesday night, bars and nightclubs should remain closed and the nationwide curfew will be in force until further notice.

Mohammed said gatherings of religious groups and weddings among others have been reduced to 50 percent attendance while official engagements, meetings and conferences should continue to hold virtually.

Access to government institutions would also be denied to anyone not wearing a face mask while government meetings and travels have been limited to virtual platform.

He added that only essential international travels would be encouraged, and all existing protocols must be strictly adhered to.

The PSC member, however, stated that there was no limitation to intra-state travel.

It would be recalled that in January, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has on Monday announced the extension of phase three of eased lockdown by one month.

The new directive comes amid declining record of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
