On the day his funeral rites started on Sunday, May 9, the two surviving sons, youth pastors and other church members decided to go all bald as led by Leke Adeboye.

In a video posted on Sunday, Leke said the action was to honour the deceased and show that the tragedy would not make anyone backslide.

He stated;

This is our tradition, anytime we lose a fallen soldier as youths; we shave off our hair as a sign of respect and honour. To live is Christ and to die is gain. It is very simple. PD is already gone. How are you living right now? Heads shaved, clean hearts and clean minds.
