Photos: Buhari, Family Members Observe Eid-El-Fitr Prayers At Aso RockPresident Muhammadu Buhari and members of his immediate family have on Thursday observed Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The president’s decision to observe the prayer at Aso Rock was in compliance with the COVID-19 protocol stipulated by presidential steering committee (PSC).

In attendance were the president’s family members, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Babagana Monguno, Chief of Staff to the president, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and other presidential aides.

Aisha Buhari, the first lady, was also seen in public for the first time after several months away from public view. 

It would be recalled that on May 9, President Buhari announced a ban on traditional Sallah homage Aso Rock by religious, community and political leaders.

The President, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, encouraged such leaders to be content with modest celebrations at home in view of the COVID-19 pandemic as was the case last year.

Large congregational prayers usually come after the month-long Ramadan fast but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the prayers have been restricted to small gatherings.
