The incident, which happened along the Ilaro-Ibese Road on Friday, June 18, 2021, made many travellers to be stranded as a mob blocked the road and set fire on the truck.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, Spokesman, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Akinbiyi said;

The Dangote truck reckless driver left its lane to face the motorcyclist and the pillion passenger at his back, in the other lane and crushed them to death.

He added;

An angry mob later set the
Dangote truck on fire while the driver ran away. The case is being handled by the Dangote plant police post.

He noted that it took the intervention of the police and officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to calm frayed nerves and the situation.
