Hollywood Star, Lisa Banes Dies After Hit-And-Run Accident In New York
Lisa Banes, a 65-year-old Hollywood actress, has passed on after a hit-and-run collision last week in New York.
Prominent for her role as Marybeth Elliott in ‘Gone Girl’ (2014), as well as Bonnie in Tom Cruise’s film ‘Cocktail’ (1988), Banes was struck while crossing the road on June 4.
Her manager told The Associated Press that she was struck by either a scooter or a motorcycle in the Upper West Side of Manhattan near Lincoln Centre as she was crossing Amsterdam Avenue on the way to visit her alma mater ―Juilliard School.
She was said to have died on Monday at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital after suffering traumatic brain injury and was unable to recover.
According to NBC News, David Williams, her manager, broke the news in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement reads;
We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.
Police say that no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
Banes’ representatives while speaking to Entertain Tonight on Monday, said;
We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity. She was. dedicated to her work whether on stage or in front of a camera; and even more so, to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.
Banes also played Martha Gellhorn in the TV mini-series ‘Hemingway’ the same year and her most recent role came in the horror series ‘Them’.
