Mr Macaroni, Funsho Adeolu, Mary Njoku, Others Slam TAMPAN Over Sanctions On Iyabo Ojo, Nkechi Blessing
Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has come under fire over its recent sanctions against actresses, Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing.
Recall that the association led by Bolaji Amusa aka Mr. Latin, on Sunday June 27 barred its member directors from working with the actresses.

Then, executive member, Jide Kosoko threatened to frustrate the actresses out of the industry, vowing to “work against” Nkechi Blessing — who was earlier suspended alongside Kehinde Adams, another actor, over their social media row.
TAMPAN’s action comes in relation to the allegations of sexual assault against Baba Ijesha, its embattled member, who Ojo and Blessing have openly and strongly opposed since his arrest.
The move has continued to spark heated outrage as several celebrities took to social media to call out the body.
Joining the fray, Mr Macaroni, Nigerian comedian, said TAMPAN should have handled the matter with fairness.

He tweeted;
TAMPAN suspends Iyabo Ojo. Not only did they suspend her, there was a full press conference stating a million and one things she did wrong. Interesting how this is happening only after Baba Ijesha was granted bail. Really interesting.

The comedian added;
A press conference should have been held at the beginning of the whole thing, letting the public know TAMPAN’S stand on Baba Ijesha and the matters arising.
If Iyabo Ojo went too far, so did Yomi Fabiyi. If we can demand accountability from the government, what about ourselves?

Another Elder came out and said that the issue of molestation isn’t such a big deal. That after all, no successful actress can make bold to say that men in the industry haven’t had their way with her. And we don’t think this is a serious issue?

In an Instagram post, Funsho Adeolu, prominent Yoruba actor, described the decision of TAMPAN’s leaders as “shameful”.
He wrote;
My face is covered, not because of COVID-19 but in shame on behalf of those who call themselves leaders of local association and do not have the interest of members at heart. God is watching.

Also speaking, Mary Njoku, Nollywood actress and film producer, faulted TAMPAN’s move while throwing her weight behind Ojo and Blessing.
She expressed;
Where there are allegations of rape or child molestation there is no such thing as overreaction. Today in Nigeria I don’t believe we are reacting enough.
I stand with and want to thank these two strong women who have used their time and platforms to speak up against it. You both are my crush Today and always.

On her part, Ego Boyo, Nollywood star, wrote;
A whole press conference…. To silence and bully a woman for being vocal about pedophilia and other horrible practices in the industry I wish I was shocked.
The reactions come shortly after Ojo vowed to maintain her stance on the Baba Ijesha saga, noting that nobody can silence her.
Blessing also earlier tackled TAMPAN, adding that she remains unperturbed by the body’s threats to work against her.

Although the actresses are not members of the association, its executives claim they have made derogatory statements about the industry hence the position to blacklist them.
The association have, however, remained silent on the ongoing child molestation case against actor, Baba Ijesha.

Personally, I don’t know what a TAMPAN is. I know of tampons and they’re useful, not a TAMPAN.
So I don’t know what they’re on about.
Iyabo Ojo that will soon give us new movies to watch 🙌🏾— Jemima (@JemimaOsunde) June 28, 2021
TAMPAN is the reason rape and sexual harassment thrive in the Nollywood industry.
I can’t help but notice it’s the Men, such as Jide Kosoko, who are executive leaders, that are chastising Iyabo Ojo for speaking against rape.
Bunch of rape apologists.

Its really pathetic reading what some people wrote in the comment section. He’s not part of TAMPAN and so he should not condemn what’s wrong; also because they are elders?! You all are disgusting fr. No worry, dem go do am to una own daughters.

So, help to understand this; Iyabo Ojo defended a young girl, TAMBAN abi na TAMPAN are stripping her source of income!
That’s why I don’t watch most yoruba movies. All those men that spoke are Real Agbayas. Again, we come to one of my Fave Quotes “FOOLISH PEOPLE DO GROW OLD!”— 💜JFK™ D SPACES Preacher’sKid (Spices &Colours) (@ounjeamuludun) June 29, 2021
For Tampan’s axe of sanction never to have reached this yomi fabiyi is a pure joke… They only make fool of themselves with their selective sanctions
