An Ekiti State Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered one 37-year-old man, Musa Nurudeen to be remanded in the Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged rape.
Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 19, in Ado-Ekiti.
She alleged that the defendant, defiled his 11-year-old biological daughter, a JSS 1 student.
According to her, the offence contravenes Section 357 of the Criminal Code, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
In her pronouncement, Magistrate O.F. Bamidele granted the order as requested by the prosecutor from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, E.S. Atane pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The matter is adjourned to 11th August 2021 for mention.
