Buhari To Induct Newly Acquired Tucano Jets Next Tuesday

Six Super Tucano Aircraft To Arrive Nigeria In July - PresidencyPresident Muhammadu Buhari is expected to oversee the induction of newly acquired A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets next Tuesday, August 31.

The ceremony will be held at 011 Presidential Air Fleet Apron, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by Director of Public Relations and Information, Edward Gabkwet.

It would be recalled that Nigerian Air Force on Thursday, July 22 took delivery of the first batch of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from the United States.

Gabkwet in the statement titled, ‘NAF to induct A-29 Super Tucano aircraft’ said a flypast would be performed within the vicinity of the induction.

The statement reads;

The induction of the newly acquired A-29 Super Tucano aircraft into the Nigerian Air Force Order of Battle is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the 011 Presidential Air Fleet Apron, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by 10am.

Expectedly, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, will preside over the induction as the Special Guest of Honour.

As part of programmes lined up for the induction, a symbolic flypast will be performed by some of the newly acquired A-29 Super Tucano aircraft within the vicinity of the induction. The first batch of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft had on July 22 arrived Kano state.

The aircraft were received by the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), alongside the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.
