Former NCC Chairman, Olabiyi Durojaiye Is DeadOlabiyi Durojaiye, immediate past Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has on Tuesday, August 24 passed away.

According to SaharaReporters, the Ijebu Igbo born politician died in the wee hours of Tuesday in Lagos while receiving medical care for an undisclosed illness suspected to be COVID-19.

The 88-year-old former political activist and member of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) represented Ogun East Senatorial District in the Senate between 1999 and 2003.

He later served as chairman, Board of Commissioners for Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) under the first term of Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2015.

He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979 abs also graduated from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

Durojaiye worked for 35 years in the Nigerian public sector, including 28 years as a Director of Central Bank of Nigeria and National Mint.

He also worked with International Monetary Fund, Federal Reserve System in the U.S.A and City University London between 1964 and 1982.

Durojaiye is survived by many children and grandchildren.

His wife, Florence died on June 6, 2009, at the age of 72, two months after they marked their 50th anniversary.
