Manny Pacquiao Retires From Boxing To Contest For Presidency In The Philippines
Philippines boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao has announced his retirement from boxing to run for president in the country.
Making the announcement on Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, Mr Pacquiao, a serving Philippines senator, said it was difficult to accept that his time as a boxer was over.

The 42-year-old in a video posted on social media said;
As I hang up my boxing gloves, I would like to thank the whole world, especially the Filipino people, for supporting Manny Pacquiao. Goodbye boxing. It is difficult for me to accept that my time as a boxer is over. Today, I am announcing my retirement.
His retirement followed his defeat at the hands of young Cuban boxer, Yordenis Ugas in Paradise, Nevada, on August 21.

The eight-division world champion ended his 26 years boxing career with 62 wins in 72-fight careers, two draws, and eight losses, winning 12 titles during his career.
Mr Pacquiao remains the only boxer to win titles in eight different weight classes.
Earlier in the month, the legendary boxer hinted of his retirement from boxing after he accepted his political party’s nomination to run for the 2022 presidential election in the Philippines.
Mr Pacquiao, who started his boxing career in 1995 at the age of 16 as an impoverished teenager, fought his way out of poverty, ending his boxing career as one of the highest-paid athletes.
