Folorunsho Alakija’s Husband Suspended From Ikoyi Club For Physically Assaulting Member
Modupe Alakija, husband of billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija, has been suspended from renowned Ikoyi Club in Lagos state for allegedly physically assaulting a member.

Modupe, who is a lawyer, is the son of Adeyemo Alakija, the famed Nigerian legal practitioner.
According to a circular signed by Bamidele Ibironke, the secretary of Ikoyi Club, Modupe was accused of physically assaulting and abusing one of its members.
The suspension would run from December 2021 to November 2022.
The suspension notice reads;
The above-named member of the club is hereby placed on a one-year suspension for physically assaulting and abusing a fellow member. Conduct injurious to the interest of the club, thereby violating Rule 9(C) of the club’s rule book. This suspension takes effect from December 1, 2021 to November 30th 2022.
Speaking to TheCable Lifestyle about the development, Tunde Orungbeja, the club’s general manager, said the issue is being handled internally.
He expressed;
[What exactly transpired] is an information that I cannot share with you. Whatever happened in the Ikoyi Club is basically an internal affair. It’s a private member club and it’s managed within the club.bIf it’s anything that needs to go to the public, the club will duly notify the public about it.
