’God Calling’ Actor, Karibi Fubara Dies Following Battle With CancerNollywood actor, Karibi Fubara has reportedly passed away following a battle with kidney tumor and cancer.

The actor had in May 2020 revealed via his Instagram page that he had been diagnosed with a large mid-stage kidney tumor/cancer.

Announcing his passing, his sister Stella Fubara, a top official working with the government of Dubai, where the actor had been undergoing cancer treatment for the past year, said; “He was a warrior, now he’s an angel in heaven.

The death of the movie star was also confirmed by his sister, Aya Fubara Eneli via her Twitter page on Wednesday, December 12, 2021.

She wrote;

My brother, Karibi Fubara, has joined the ancestral realm. I’m devastated, but not hopeless. He lived fully and with joy. Left a great body of work. Will be a powerful ancestor. I love you, #ChiefBlack. I do not own the rights to this song.

The post was met with tributes by popular Nollywood actors and actresses including, Rita Dominic, Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Sharon Ooja, among others.

Announcing his diagnosis in May last year, Kabiri thanked God for sparing his life after undergoing a surgery which he described as successful.

He had said;

So it’s been a month of tremendous revelation and rebirths in my life as I was told around Easter (2020) that I had a large mid-stage kidney tumor/cancer, and on May 3rd (2020), I had a very successful surgery remove about 90 per cent of the tumor. I am now home resting, reborn, and learning to live again.

I am beyond grateful to my amazing family and lifelong friends, that stepped up to relentlessly wage the spiritual and physical battles needed to support me through this.

Until his death, Fubara was a Nollywood actor who rose to prominence after starring in ‘Before 30.’

He went on to star in several movies including God Calling, Quam’s Money, Castle and Castle, the Royal Hibiscus Hotel and Smart Money Woman.

Kabiri is survived by a wife, Yolanda Okereke.
