President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, January 18 unveiled a 1.2 million-bag paddy rice pyramid at the grounds of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) in the nation’s capital.
The paddy stacked in 15 separate pyramids is an initiative by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) anchor borrowers’ programme in collaboration with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).
The bags of rice were planted and harvested from states across the country under Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP).
Dignitaries at the event include Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Aminu Goronyo, President Rice Farmer Association of Nigeria (RIFAN); Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti governor and his Kebbi counterpart, Atiku Bagudu.
Others were David Umahi, Ebonyi governor; Ben Ayade, Cross River governor; Badaru Abubakar, Jigawa governor; Boss Mustapha, secretary to the federal government; Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff; and Aliko Dangote, a business tycoon.
