George Floyd’s 4-Year-Old Great-Niece Shot And Wounded In Houston, Family Says
Four-year-old great-niece of George Floyd has been shot in her bed, during a ‘targeted attack‘ on her Texas apartment in the middle of the night.
Arianna Delane is expected to survive her injuries, but had to undergo surgery after being hit by bullets in Houston over the weekend.
The 4-year-old girl was sleeping in her family’s home when bullets started flying in around 3 a.m., local ABC affiliate KTRK reported. Four adults and two children were home at the time, but only Arianna was shot.

Arianna suffered a punctured lung and liver, along with three broken ribs, her family told KTRK, who were home at the time of the sporadic shooting. She was rushed to a local hospital for surgery and in stable condition by Tuesday afternoon.
No arrests have been made nor suspects identified in the shooting, according to KTRK. Cops said they didn’t even know how many shooters there were.

So far, police have not revealed a motive nor have they provided a description of the shooter. However, the family have said they know who opened fire, and have suggested the shooting was targeted, without commenting further on a possible motive.
Gunshots were fired randomly by suspects into the family home on the second floor at around 3am on Saturday night.
At the time of the shooting there were six people inside the property in south Houston with four adults and two children all asleep, with Arianna in her bed in a front bedroom.
‘My daughter jumped up and said, ‘Daddy, I been hit,’ her father, Derrick Delane told ABC 13.

George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officers on May 25, 2020, launching a nationwide reckoning over police mistreatment of Black people. Arianna was described as “front and center” at many of the rallies sparked by her uncle’s death.
Minneapolis cop, Derek Chauvin was convicted of Floyd’s murder almost a year later. The other officers at the scene of Floyd’s death, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao are still awaiting trial. Proceedings are scheduled to begin this January.
