Just In: All Progressives Congress Holds National Convention February 26
National convention of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Chairman, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of APC and Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, revealed the date on Tuesday while delivering a goodwill message at the 2022 APC National Women Conference holding in Abuja.
Yobe Governor urged the women to come out massively and contest in the forthcoming “national convention holding on 26th of February 2022.”
Also speaking, Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti state governor, called for the support of the female members of the party ahead of the convention.
He said;
Without our women, we have no future. We have no present or past. We have a duty and responsibility to improve on solidarity that we give the women of our country.
We are not doing them a favour. If you have worked with women, they deliver. My women commissioners are the best commissioners. I have no doubt that this conference will give us a lot to chew on. We should make it a policy convention.
The issue of the convention had been a controversy lately which also led to the resignation of the Director-General of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Salihu Lukman.
Lukman has been vocal about his stance on the national convention, warning the caretaker committee against the further delay of the national convention.
Governors of the APC had earlier Sunday met behind closed doors at the Kebbi Governors Lodge in Abuja.
The governors deliberated on the contentious national convention of the party and also insisted on holding the planned February convention of the APC.
