#JusticeForHanifa: Kano Govt Orders Immediate Closure Of School Where Kidnap Victim Was Killed, Buried
Kano State Government has on Friday ordered the immediate closure of a private school, Noble Kids Academy, in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state, where a pupil, Hanifa Abubakar, was killed and buried.
The state Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru, announced the closure of the school in a statement.
MDB earlier reported that five-year-old Hanifa was abducted last December and one of those involved in the operation was her teacher, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko.
Following the kidnap, her abductors demanded N6 million ransom, however the kidnappers killed Hanifa despite collecting part of the N6m demanded.
According to Kano state police command, the young girl was brutally killed having realized that the victim recognised them.
They decided to poisoned her to death before butchering and burying her in a shallow grave.
Reacting, Commissioner expressed sadness over the incident and announced that;
The state government would commence an investigation of unregistered private schools and teachers to check such criminal activities. The school has also been closed till further notice.
He admonished parents whose children attend the private school to stop them from doing so pending the completion of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, Haruna Kiyawa, on Friday said;
On investigation, Abdulmalik confessed that the victim, Hanifa was his student at a private school in Kwanar Dakata, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State. He kidnapped her and took her to his house where he contacted her relatives and demanded a ransom of Six Million Naira (N6,000,000).
On the 18/12/2021, having realised that the victim recognized him, he claimed to have poisoned her to death, conspired with one Hashim Isyaku and buried her in a shallow grave within the private school premises located at Kwanar ‘Yan Gana, Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State.
