Court Reportedly Grants NDLEA’s Request To Detain Abba Kyari’s Alleged Accomplices For 14 Days
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the request by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to further detain two alleged accomplices in suspended DCP Abba Kyari’s drug case for 14 days.
According to TheNation, Justice Zainab Abubakar gave the order for the detention of Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus in the NDLEA facility in Abuja pending investigation.
The Justice gave the order after listening to the Director, Prosecution and Legal Services (NDLEA), Joseph Sunday, who moved an ex-parte application to that effect.
Deputy Force Public Relations Officer (DFPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a recent statement, said;
Interim investigations report revealed that two international drug couriers identified as Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus, both males, were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Jan. 19.
The suspects were arrested upon their arrival from Addis Ababa aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight ET917.

Adejobi said the case and the two suspects were subsequently transferred to NDLEA on January 25.
Investigations by NDLEA has shown that Abba Kyari and his team failed to disclose N3 billion worth of Tramadol seized in Lagos.
NDLEA’s investigation said Kyari had learnt about the importation of the drug by an individual who claimed to be a pharmacist.
The team were said to have stormed the warehouse where the drug was stored but never reported their discovery to the NDLEA.
A deputy commissioner of police who was earlier linked to the crimes committed by an internet fraudster has been declared wanted. The anti-illegal drug agency declared Abba Kyari wanted on Monday, February 14.
According to the agency, Kyari is wanted for being a member of a drug trafficking syndicate across the globe.
