UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman has gone under the knife following an injury to his hand.

Usman had sustained an injury in his right hand before his last fight with Colby Livington. The injury however did not stop Usman as he defeated his opponent via unanimous decision.

UFC President and Usman’s biggest fan, Dana White shared a picture of Usman’s hand to his Instagram on Monday night.

According to Usman’s manager, there is hope that the fighter will be ready for UFC 276 in Las Vegas on July 2.

Dana White had previously said Usman’s next title defense could come against Leon Edwards.

If Usman wins the fight against Edwards, he will tie with legendary Brazilian fighter, Anderson Silva for the most consecutive UFC wins.

Usman is currently on a 15 fight winning streak and few would bet against him, despite his operation.

The fighter boasts an impressive 20-1 record following his win over Colby Covington at UFC 268.
