Deputy Inspector General Of Police, Joseph Egbunike Slumps, Dies In Abuja
Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police in charge of Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Mr Joseph Egbunike has reportedly passed on.
Egbunike, who hails from Onitsha, Anambra State, reportedly slumped and died in Abuja in the late hours of Tuesday.
According to ChannelsTV, a source confirmed that the police investigation boss died after he was rushed to a hospital in Abuja due to a brief illness.
The police is, however, yet to announce the death as at Wednesday morning.
Until his death, Egbunike headed the Special Investigation Panel constituted by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to investigate the suspended head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, over money laundering allegations.

DIG Egbunike was due to retire from the service in the next two months
He graduated from the University of Nsukka with BSc in Accounting. He also had a Bachelor of Law, a master’s in International Relations, and a Ph.D. in Criminology.
DIG Egbunike had served in various commands in the force.
