Emeka Obasi, Publisher Of Hallmark Newspaper, Is DeadVeteran journalist and Publisher of Hallmark Newspaper, Prince Emeka Obasi, has passed away at 58.

The former Commissioner for Information in Abia State died on Wednesday morning after a protracted ailment.

According to a statement released by the deceased’s family, the publisher died on Tuesday at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

The publisher had been battling a medical condition over the past few years.

The statement reads;

The family of Prince Emeka Obasi announces the passing unto glory of Prince Emeka Obasi, Ezenwata, Ibeku Kingdom. Prince Emeka, the Publisher of Hallmark Newspapers passed on, Tuesday March 15, 2022 at a Lagos hospital. He is survived by wife, Dr (Mrs) Betty Obasi and Children – Emeka (jnr), Onyedikachi, Kamsi, Miracle, siblings, aunties and uncles. Further burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

He founded the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), organisers of the annual Zik Prize in Leadership Awards.

In 2018, the publisher launched a book titled — Saved for His Praise — wherein he chronicled how he survived an unknown illness that almost claimed his life.

The former commissioner narrated how God restored his health when he had almost lost hope.

Before establishing Hallmark Newspaper, the deceased had previously published National Mirror Newspaper, which he later sold to billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.
