UK Cancels COVID-19 Test, Quarantine For Nigerian Travellers, Others
United Kingdom has cancelled COVID-19 test, proof of vaccination or quarantine as as a pre-condition for entering into the country.
This was contained in a “Travel Abroad” advisory for those coming from other countries, published on the UK Government’s website.
The new rule comes into effect from Friday, March 18, 2022.
The new guidelines reads;
If you will arrive in England from abroad after 4am, Friday 18 March, you do NOT need to: take any COVID-19 tests – before you travel or after you arrive; fill in a UK passenger locator form before you travel. This will apply whether you are vaccinated or not. You also will not need to quarantine when you arrive, in line with current rules.
The same rule also applies to those traveling to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Nigerians travelling to the United Kingdom can now worry less about COVID-19 tests in the European country.
British government had earlier announced the pre-departure tests which began on Friday, January 7, 2022.
The country’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson told the parliament that the requirement to self-isolate on arrival until receipt of a negative PCR test will be lifted.
“Instead, a negative lateral flow test will be acceptable,” Johnson said.
The rapid test that has been in use since October 2021 helps to check for COVID-19 infection.
