Two young men have been reported dead after a truck hit them near Eleganza busstop in Ajah, leading to a serious chaos in the area.
According to ThePUNCH, the unidentified truck was carrying sand when the accident occurred on Tuesday morning.
The truck has since been vandalised and set on fire by mob in the area. The accident also caused gridlock in the axis, with many commuters stuck in traffic for several hours.
Lekki Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Assistant Corps Commander, Sani Abdullahi, confirmed the casualties to newsmen.
Sanni stated;
My team that went to the scene of the incident confirmed that three people died in the accident.
He, however, blamed the immediate cause of the accident on overspeeding by the truck driver.
Meanwhile, to a medical doctor who was at the scene to attend to the victims, the men might have survived if things worked properly in Nigeria.
Ajah ON FIRE 🔥
Who were to be blamed?
The angry mob?
The police officers?
The ambulance service?
The reckless truck driver?
The reckless okada rider ?

The doctor said that after the truck hit the men on a bike, locals gathered to burn the truck and take videos of the injured, instead of trying to get them medical help.
He added that one of his colleagues who was at the scene called emergency services and the police station “all to no avail“.
I was called via phone call by my colleague who coincidentally witnessed the scenario(RTA).
However, she had called emergency services and the police station but all to no avail.
Soldiers drove by and tried to get a bus passing by to help convey the casualties to the hospital but— Dr Black🦍 (@DrBlack_symp) March 15, 2022
The Doctor stated that soldiers who drove by tried to get passing buses to covey the victims to the hospital but no one was willing to volunteer their vehicle.
He expressed that when he arrived, he performed first aid and took the victims to the hospital but one of them died on the way.
no one was ready to volunteer their vehicles, after some minutes, I got to the place and luckily for me, I was with hydrocortisone, gloves, normal saline, scalp veins, tourniquet, and cotton wools.
I and my colleagues tried resuscitating the victims but no hands could join us.😭— Dr Black🦍 (@DrBlack_symp) March 15, 2022
The Twitter user stated that then took the body to the police station but the police officers were more concerned about why he owns an iPhone.
The doctor said the victims were breathing for one hour thirty minutes after the accident and might have survived if the emergency and ambulance service in Nigeria works as it should.
The useless and illiterate angry mobs were busy doing videos and snapping pictures, some even caused a menace by burning down the truck that hit the victims on the okada..
We left the venue then went to MAC JACOBS hospital(not so sure of the hospital name tho) at Igbo Efon.— Dr Black🦍 (@DrBlack_symp) March 15, 2022
Following the accident, area boys went on a rampage, burning the truck.
When police arrived at the scene, they shot into the air to disperse the protesters but this angered the mob and they chased the police officers into the Eleganza building at Ajah.
Before we got to the hospital, one of the victims we tried to rescue had died. We went to the police station at Jakande, instead of them addressing the issue, they were asking me why am I with iPhone ☹️, from there we drove them back to the spot where the incident happened.

Those guys could still have survived the accident if the emergency/ambulance services had arrived swiftly at the location.
Those guys were breathing for over 1hrs 30 minutes before they died.— Dr Black🦍 (@DrBlack_symp) March 15, 2022
