All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced the screening of presidential hopefuls seeking to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 general elections.
The exercise is being held at Hilton Transcorp Hotel in Abuja ahead of the June 6 presidential primary of the party, TheNation reports.
APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; the party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and other party leaders are reportedly already at the venue of the exercise.

Former Ogun State governor and the lawmaker representing Ogun Central senatorial district, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who is also seeking to contest the presidential election on the APC platform, is among those who have arrived at the venue for the exercise.
Meanwhile, a source told PeoplesGazette that the APC Presidential Screening Committee is led by Mr John Odigie Oyegun, a former Edo State governor and former national chairman of the party.
He will lead the seven-man Presidential Screening Committee (PSC).
More than 20 party faithful comprising serving members of the President’s cabinet, governors, lawmakers, and business leaders, among others have picked the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms sold at N100 million.
While some of the presidential aspirants purchased their forms themselves, other received theirs from various interest groups who got the nomination tickets for their preferred aspirants – a move that was rejected by some of the beneficiaries.

Among those who have publicly rejected the APC nomination and expression of interest forms purchased for them included the former President Goodluck Jonathan and the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
All the aspirants had undergone a vetting exercise by the legal department of the party.

Those to be screened include;
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osibanjo; former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Development, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo Governor Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former Ogun Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosu.

Others are:
Pastor Tunde Bakare; Cross River Governor Prof. Ben Ayade; his Ebonyi counterpart Gov. Dave Umahi; Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Kayode Fayemi; Minister of State for Education, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba; former Senate President, Sen. Ken Nnamani; Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello; Jigawa Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and former Zamfara Governor Sen. Ahmed Yerima.
Also on the list are;
Senator Ajayi Borroffice; the only female aspirant, Barr. (Mrs) Uju Kennedy Ohanenye; Pastor Nicholas Felix Nwagbo; former Speaker Dimeji Bankole; Senate President Ahmed Lawan; former Minister of Information, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu and Oil magnate, Engr. Tein Jack Rich.
