Breaking: Amosun, Fayemi, Bankole Step Down For Tinubu (Video)
Former Governor of Ogun and Ekiti states, Ibikunle Amosun and Kayode Fayemi have stepped down for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congressive, Bola Tinubu.
Amosun and Fayemi at separate times announced this at the ongoing presidential primary at the Eagles Square in Abuja.
According to Amosun, Tinubu can do the job, urging delegates from Ogun state to vote for the former Governor of Lagos state.
Amosun argued that his decision was in the spirit of consensus-building.
He then thanked the northern APC governors of the party for their resolution to push for the return of the presidency to the Southern part of the country.
On his part, Fayemi while announcing his exit stated;
Give me the honour to step done for my leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He is a democrat that I worked with. I am not doing this for any prize.
Also, former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole withdrew from the race for Tinubu, becoming the fourth aspirant to step down.
Amosun follows in the footsteps of Akpabio, who also stepped down for Tinubu.
