Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of has denied reports that he was involved in an auto crash on Monday morning.
Reports had emerged on social media that Osinbajo’s convoy was involved in a crash along airport road Abuja.
However, his spokesman and media aide, Laolu Akande, said the VP only stopped at the scene of the incident to lend assistance to a citizen who was involved in an auto crash.
Akande further stated that Osinbajo has arrived Owo in Ondo State, where worshippers were heinously attacked and killed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

The spokesperson wrote:
On his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, & ensured the victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance.
He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to site of yesterday’s attack in Owo.
The VP heads out to Owo, (Ondo State this morning) where worshippers were heinously attacked yesterday resulting in many casualties. He will deliver president’s condolences and message in person.

Akande further shared photos from the accident scene; and also explained that the Vice President’s medical team only attended to the accident victims.

He tweeted;
Photos taken at the scene of the accident which occurred less than 2 hours ago. VP’s medical and security teams quickly intervened removing the victim from the crushed car which somersaulted on the opposite side of the road and got stuck on a tree. Victim now moved to an hospital.

Osinbajo’s Statement
Shortly after, Osinbajo himself debunked rumours of being involved in a car crash via his Twitter account.
He tweeted that his security and medical teams only assisted in removing the victims of a car crash he witnessed and that the victims have been transported to the Airforce Base hospital in Abuja.
I was not involved in an accident. On my way to the airport, we ran into an accident scene. My security and medical teams assisted in removing the victims of the crash from the scene.
