Bandana: Let’s Talk About YBNL’s Fireboy, Asake’s Chemistry On New Single
Bandana is the newest single off Fireboy‘s forthcoming third studio album, Playboy.
Fireboy revealed a couple of days ago that his third studio will be released on August 5, 2022.
Since the impressive debut studio, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps (LTG) in 2019, Fireboy has continued to redefine himself and songwriting propensity; stretching himself from the simplistic ‘lover boy’ theme that is being circulated heavily on radio and creating music that is more catchy, hypnotic and presenting himself more ostentatious to an international audience.
Fireboy revealed on his sophomore album, Apollo that he is grown; the 26-year-old poet revealed that he is not ashamed to create music that would provoke his listener’s into thinking at the same time make them dance. At the 2021 Headies Award, he bagged five awards, an accolade he deserves.
Although he failed to emerge victorious at the 2022 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, Fireboy‘s ability to step away from his comfort zone and carve a niche that appeals to mainstream audience landed him a performance at the same award ceremony; also, he performed his smash hit ‘Peru’ alongside British musician, Ed Sheeran in Wembley stadium, London, United Kingdom.
He made history in the process.

Since his mainstream debut in 2018 with the breakthrough single, ‘Jealous‘, Fireboy has continued to experience meteoric rise in his music career. Impressive, to say the least.
Working with Olamide, the founder of Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) brought out the best in Fireboy, he has remained one of the most consistent musicians in the entertainment industry since his emergence.
Bandana: Connecting Two Icons
On Thursday, July 14, the single, ‘Bandana‘ debuted. It featured rave artiste, Ololade Mi Asake, it became an instant sensation following it’s release.
Specifically, the chorus which was vocalized by Asake gave the song an interesting perspective. Although, the song alludes late American rapper, 2 Pac Shakur, Fireboy was subtly telling his listeners about his achievements and contribution to the Afrobeat movement.

It would be interesting to listen to Fireboy‘s upcoming music project. Prior to the release of ‘Bandana’, he already released two singles, ‘Peru‘ and ‘Play boy‘ to prepare his audience for the emerging masterpiece.
Equally, this is the first time both YBNL signees will be collaborating officially. While YBNL head honcho, Olamide Baddo has preferred to take a more administrative role in the affairs of his label, his protegees have continued to release impeccable projects.
Nigerians will be looking forward to more collaborations between Asake and Fireboy in the near future.
