Following the Kuje prison attack, Hassan Hassan, a member of the Boko Haram terrorists has been recaptured by Nasarawa State Police.
Terrorists, on Tuesday, attacked the Kuje medium custodial centre and freed over 800 inmates including members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).

Subsequently, the Federal Government on Friday declared that 64 of the inmates who had terror-related charges wanted with their names and other details published.
In a statement issued by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel said the Boko Haram escapee was nabbed early hours of Saturday.

The statement reads;
Sequel to the attack on Kuje Maximum Custodial Centre and subsequent escape of inmates, on July 9th, 2022 at about 0130hrs, one Hassan Hassan ‘M’ whose name and picture was amongst the escaped inmates with Boko Haram/Terrorism Case was recaptured by the Eagle-eyed Police operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command at Keffi.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has ordered for the transfer of the suspect to a safer location while an intensive search for other escapees and handing over process of the arrested inmate progresses.
The Commissioner further appreciated the efforts of the operatives instrumental to the arrest.

Federal Government, on Friday, indicated that the terrorists who attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) succeeded because they had superior firepower.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, made the assertion while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the security personnel deployed in the facility did their best to repel the attack but were subdued by the superior weaponry of the terrorists.
The minister revealed that some of the assailants were killed.
Asked why the terrorists could not be stopped, he said;
You see, these kinds of things, they happen and I want to assure you all, those who were supposed to play a role in ensuring that the attack was neutralised did the best that they could to neutralise it.
I think what helped them (terrorists) was the number of people they came with and the superior weapons they came with.
“And because nobody anticipated it, the few people could not withstand the number that they came with. I think that’s what happened.”
