Pastor Poju Oyemade, the senior pastor and founder of The Covenant Nation (formerly the Covenant Christian Center) has taken down his tweet pertaining to the coming 2023 general election.
The minister in his now-deleted admonished Nigerian youths not to “waste their enthusiasm on poorly planned projects“.
What’s seems like an subtle shade at Labour Party‘s presidential candidate, Peter Obi failed to resonate properly with Nigerians on social media.
Pastor Oyemade‘s tweet also infuriated supporters of Peter Obi and Nigerian youths after it was perceived that he was strategically endorsing the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate and flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu after his tweets campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 surfaced on social media.

The tweet reads;
-
Faith is not just blind belief or hoping for a miracle. Faith sees. Faith has her eyes opened and possesses the evidence upon which it builds it’s belief. Faith prepares long, sometimes for years just as Joseph did for the years of famine. Faith counts the cost before embarking.

The tweets came after many politicians have argued that Obi will not win the 2023 presidential election because he lacks ‘political structure’.
However, despite that Pastor Poju did not mention Obi’s name, the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate took offence to the cleric’s message.

Below are some of the reactions from netizens, read them below.
Nobody forced pastor Poju to give an Opinion concerning 2023
Nobody told him he must endorse or support Peter Obi
He, on his own accord, decided to twist the Bible to drive a stupid narrative, and got called out for it.How is that bullying him?
Tell me, how is that bullying?— Manger Ajake (@TheAjakeManger) July 1, 2022
When you see religious clerics like Pastor Poju being bantered on this street, don’t blame the people because political religious leaders misled us in 2015 so in this 2023 elections the people won’t tolerate any religious leader who try to mislead us. Not again.

Pastor Poju Oyemade should just come out and support his preferred candidate with his full chest.
After all, all of us have “preferred” candidates.
He should just say “I support Tinubu”, instead of using Bible quotes to bamboozle the uninitiated!Na d disguising deh pain pipu!
— FestusGreen #PeterObi (@FestusGreen) July 1, 2022
Pastor Poju was theologically wrong in his assertion and nearly undermined d core teachings of Christianity
how do you bring evidence based logic as basis of faith in a Religion that believes in a God unseen?
I understand that he is trying to teach pragmatism but he was wrong

Nothing stops Pastor Poju from Supporting Tinubu or Atiku, but he shouldn’t twist the word of God to do that. Is a simple thing, just tweet I am for Tinubu and this is my reasons shikena. Don’t come and twist the bible.

It’s important to state that I don’t believe Pastor Poju is a tribalist. That argument is DOA. I however think his faith argument yesterday will not pass theological or emperical testing. He goofed bigly
— O ji Chi Aga (@uzoakuchie) July 1, 2022
It’s mischievous to say Obidients bullied Pastor Poju.
No one bullied anyone.
He tweeted something ridiculous, that people shouldn’t dare to hope, that faith needed to have some logical standing for it to be fruitful and he was rightly criticized for it.

Anyone who says Pastor Poju was bullied into deleting his tweet is daft and
The author of the tweet knows within himself how erroneous and misleading and dangerous his tweet was.

Beware of any individual telling you that PO supporters bullied Pastor Poju, they are trying to twist the truth to suit their own narrative.
A Pastor of his caliber cannot be bullied to delete a tweet,he is not just a regular pastor.
Pastor Poju bullied PO supporters, yes he did— Godson Kelly (@IamGodsonKelly) July 1, 2022
Most of you don’t realize that if we have a working Nigeria with basic infrastructure and a competent leader with zero tolerance for corruption, people like Pastor Poju will be out of business same goes for all these fake activists. 2023 is not going to be business as usual 🚶♂️

You are going through the hardship of Buhari’s term, “Pastor” Poju and co that pushed you into the suffering want to push you into deeper suffering.
Please be careful.

Pastor Poju referred to the Obidient Movement by the Youths as “enthusiasm wasted on a Poorly Planned Project.” These Pastorpreneurs that wear suits and speak Good English to hoodwink their audience for cash. The audacity! Why did he delete the tweet David Hundeyin quoted?
— NK£M #PeterObi2023 (@Nkemchor_) June 30, 2022
FYI Faith doesn’t see sh*t!! The eg pastor Poju gave about Joseph wasn’t a story of faith. There was a dream and a revelation. And they prepared towards it. Abraham is all about Faith. Also Joshua, David and countless others.

I keep saying it, Igbos are hated for no reason in this country, Pastor Poju’s tweet speaks of this deep hatred!
A Muslim Muslim ticket is ok, Another northern president is ok, but an igbo president is a poorly planned project, we will see!
