Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has told Nigerians that no threat will prevent the holding of the general elections in 2023.
After the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Lai Mohammed answered questions from State House reporters and provided the assurance, on Wednesday, August 3.

He said that the administration would make every effort to secure the nation as well as ensure that elections were held the next year.
Lai Mohammed reaffirmed that the government had given security agencies all they needed to put an end to the terror state.
Reacting to a question on the concern raised by some civil society organisations that the worsening insecurity in the country might affect the 2023 election, he said;
Yes, it is true that some groups have been worried and concerned whether, given the state of insecurity in the country, there can’t be elections.
I can assure you there will be elections because the federal government will do everything possible, not just to make sure there is election, but to secure the country.
Mohammed also commended security agencies for working so hard to maintain peace and order.
I’m sure you heard yesterday from the president that military commanders have been given everything they needed and they have been given all the powers to bring this insurgency and banditry to an end.
As to whether Service Chiefs should resign, I think only the president can decide on that.
The Service Chiefs have been doing their best and they will continue to do so.
