But on Wednesday afternoon, Ngige extended an invitation to the union to attend a meeting intended to address their complaints.

The meeting would take place by Wednesday at 4 o’clock, according to a PUNCH report.

According to the source,

The Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, has invited the electricity workers, who have shut down their services nationwide, for an urgent meeting in Abuja. The meeting will hold at 4 pm today.

The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, had earlier claimed that the protesting workers do not have issues with his ministry but with the Head of Service.

Aliyu, however, assured Nigerians that the government has “all the ingredients” to solve the supply challenge soon.

Following an order from the union’s national leadership, the NUEE withdrew its services from the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s Kaduna Regional Headquarters on Wednesday morning.

The Mando TCN Station in the capital city of Kaduna state was surrounded by NUEE officials, who shut down all activities and ordered employees to leave the company’s property before sealing the gate.

They are protesting the nonpayment of outstanding debts owed to former employees of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, which is no longer in business, the suspension of worker employment terms and conditions, as well as the TCN board’s decision to conduct interviews for promotions for acting principal managers who are becoming assistant general managers.
