A double rainbow appeared outside Buckingham Palace as across the crowds gathered after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday, September 8.

When the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death broke, after a hush, people broke into “God Save the Queen.”

People among the thousand-strong crowd outside the Palace gates in central London turned round to take pictures of the rainbow that appeared after a heavy downpour.

Buckingham Palace announced Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral.

The rainbow could be seen over major landmarks across the capital including Elizabeth Tower in Westminster and the Queen Victoria Memorial.

Some hoped the phenom was a sign of good news to come, while others saw it as symbolism that Her Majesty had crossed the “rainbow bridge.”

Her Majesty is survived by her children, along with eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, which includes Prince William and Kate Middleton’s kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet. Lilibet was named in her honor.

Buckingham Palace said;

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

The royal family’s official website now carries the message: “Queen Elizabeth II 1926 – 2022” along with the official statement issued by Buckingham Palace.
