Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, slammed Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, claiming that the latter was only concerned with the N14 billion that the party raised during the primaries.
He claimed that Ayu wanted to handle the money and made the point that by calling him and other team members “children” after helping him get to where he is now, he has shown the highest level of ungratefulness and haughtiness.

Ayu had said;
I have not violated any rules; in fact, I am working to bring reforms to the party. I am truly not bothered by the unnecessary controversy being generated. When we started PDP, these children were not around. They are children who do not know why we formed the party. We will not allow any individual to destabilise our party.
On Thursday, September 1, Wike said those Ayu was referring to as youngsters will teach him a lesson during the opening of the Omerelu Internal Roads in the state’s Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Wike said;
These children you said we are, brought you from nothing.
Now we have seen that you don’t want the party to win the election, we will help you.
Ayu, you said you founded this party, but you left the party in 2007. You founded a company, you left the company, people stood and brought out the company to what it is today, you have no moral right to still come and claim that you founded that company, you left with your shares.
Nigerians have seen how ungrateful some of you can be, and that’s why Nigerians also want to be careful, if we give these people power, are you sure they will also be grateful to Nigerians?
