In the early hours of Wednesday, chaos broke out as a fire destroyed the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC headquarters in the Yaba neighborhood of Lagos State.
Several people are reportedly still trapped inside the structure as the fire spreads.

As of 7.15 am, the cause of the fire, which started at 6.50 am, had not been determined. The high-rise building’s midsection had caught fire, and those trapped inside could be heard urgently pleading for assistance.

A report monitored on a Lagos radio station Bond FM, noted that firefighters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have arrived the scene of the incident to extinguish the fire as of the time of filing this report.
Eyewitness account disclosed that a staff of the WAEC believed to have been trapped in between some floors was observed attempting to jump through the window of the 12-floor magnificent building to escape being suffocated.
As of right now, the roaring fire is being put out by men from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders, according to reports.
