Wizkid Says Rap Genre In Nigeria Is ‘Dead And Boring’
Nigerian recording artiste, Wizkid in a recent interview revealed he is not impressed with the performance of the rappers in the Hip Hop and Rap sector in the music industry.
The singer whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun disclosed that rap music in Nigeria is boring and dead.
Speaking in a recent interview with 10 magazine, he said:
“Afrobeats is the new pop.
I sold two million copies in America off of one song!
Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record.
If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.”

The Afrobeat icon continued:
“I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”

Wizkid’s recent statement is coming after he released his 5th studio album, More Love, Less Ego.
Wizkid had earlier explained why he gave his fifth album the title.
“The phrase ‘More Love Less Ego’ is part of my life, it is like a progression. The last one was ‘Made In Lagos’, that is where I’m from. You already know where I’m from,” he had said.
“It’s just to show you what the world needs actually at this time, right now, at this moment. It’s absolutely more love and less ego.”
