Simp: Should Men Be Afraid Of Expressing Interest In Women?
The term ‘Simp’ is currently trending on the microblogging site, Twitter.
The term is used to refer to a man or a person who is coercing interest in someone who is apparently not interested in them romantically. Urban Dictionary’s top definition of a simp is “someone who does way too much for a person they like.”
Simp is an internet slang term describing someone who shows excessive sympathy and attention toward another person; typically someone who does not reciprocate the same feelings, in pursuit of affection or a sexual relationship.

No one wants to identify as a simp; however, there will always be simps. It is the law of nature, not everyone will be as adorable as Wizkid or David Beckham, still, it is still the duty of the man to express interest in a woman and create experiences for the relationship to blossom.
Why Is Simp Trending On Twitter NG?
Though the term ‘Simp’ has been around for almost two decades, it became popularized among Nigerians when a self-acclaimed relationship expert and propagator of the Alpha Male Movement, Shola took it upon himself to caution men who prefer to pedestalize someone who has refused to reciprocate in similar manner.
The Twitter influencer, Shola dubbed them ‘Finished Men’.
On Tuesday morning, March 14, a Twitter user identified as @JehoHans took it upon himself to shower encomium on his love interest, @Biawurbi; in his lengthy thread, the young man did not hold back how he felt about his female counterpart.

Writing, Jeho stated that his love interest is “breathtaking” and he will like to establish a something more profound with her.
The opening part of his thread reads,
“This is about you @biawurbi
Girl, you’re just too stunning for me to shut up about it. Your beauty moves me in a way that’s hard to explain. You’re just so breathtaking. I apologize if this is a little bit forward, but I think you’re totally gorgeous.”

The concluding part of his thread read,
“Gotta go baby, I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Don’t get into too much trouble without me. See you in your dreams”

Unfortunately for the social media poet, his crush is in a relationship. A young man whose name is Ose responded to the thread with a photo of himself and Jeho‘s love interest, Anisah in a position.
The young man who insinuated that he is in a relationship with Anisah wrote, “You gotta do the media research first, boy.”

I don't understand, even if you love a stranger, there are good ways to get close to her. Not this. https://t.co/sEuI6e5Wer

Doing things for her and being there for her does not create attraction.
Polarity creates attraction. Stop confusing simp behaviour for attractive behaviour.

Fellas don’t be a simp. Set some standards in your home and live by them. Don’t let your wife embarrass you like this. Politely ask her to find another designer outfit. #NoMoreSimps pic.twitter.com/JQ12RAdFgZ

Kings:
Don't be a nice guy, stop being a simp just to score some points, when you simp it shows you're weak, and women punish weakness in men.Be strong and kind, that's the true way to attract high value women, not these street ho€s with n@ked pictures online.
End.

This is all the simp will ever get. I wonder sometimes what's all the fuss about women online. Y'all keep putting them on a pedestal, in effect you make yourself beneath her. Make money and flaunt those jpegs and watch women rush you on this app.
Grow some cojones! @JehoHans_ https://t.co/DjunrYOhfp

Now the question must be asked, should men be afraid in expressing interest in women?
Of course not.
Men and women were designed to co-exist. Regardless of the rules and regulations constructed by the Alpha male community and the feminism ideologies hovering around the internet, nothing can take away the place of true love, sacrifice, friendship and romance in a committed relationship.
For a relationship to thrive, both parties must be prepared to put in the work and create experiences together.
It is quintessential for a man to express interest in someone who he admires and desires, however, there must be an avenue for reciprocation. To avoid being entangled in a one-sided relationship, a logical person must know when to walk away and carry his ‘love’ balloons home.
In conclusion, remember it takes two to tango, to avoid being called a ‘simp’ don’t try too hard in expressing your intent to your love interest. Instead, be genuine and say what you mean, life is beautiful and it is even more fascinating when we have someone to share heartwarming experiences with.
Don’t be afraid to express love in someone whom you admire.
