The international news platform, Al Jazeera has documented the village in Syria where visually impaired persons are nurtured, protected and enlightened about the circumstances in life.
This village in Syria is known as Al-Noor or Braille Village.has been designed and dedicated to providing safe and comfortable living for people who are blind or visually impaired.
Equally, the term ‘Braille’ is universally accepted system of writing used by and for blind persons and consisting of a code of 63 characters, each made up of one to six raised dots arranged in a six-position matrix or cell.

These Braille characters are embossed in lines on paper and read by passing the fingers lightly over the manuscript.
Some of the institutions in the village includes- a place of worship and a school where the visually impaired persons are lectured.
