Meanwhile, one of the birthday messages to the former president was tendered by a former senator in Kaduna State, Shehu Sani via his Twitter handle. Describing Obasanjo as indefatigable, Sani recalled their years in Kiri Kiri prison in 1995. He went on to state that Obasanjo was accused of stinginess while in prison, hence he wasn’t surprised when he learnt of his endorsement of the Labour Party standard bearer, Peter Obi.
The former senator tweeted:
Happy 86th Birthday to our indefatigable Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo; I will never forget our years in Kiri Kiri prison in 1995,when the inmates accused you of stinginess. I wasn’t surprised when you backed PO.
Recall that Chief Obasanjo had about a week ago, expressed his thoughts on the electoral process in the country, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and saying that elections be re-conducted in areas where there were irregularities. His statement was however, termed inciteful by a lot of politicians.
