The TIME Magazine staff writer Astha Rajvanshi has locked her Twitter account.
This is thought to be connected to the criticism she received from OBIDIENTS for listing Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, on the most recent Time 100 list of the world’s most influential people.

For the citation she authored for Tinubu, which highlighted his function as a “longtime political power broker” and his contributions to the 1999 restoration of democracy in Nigeria, Astha Rajvanshi faced a barrage of criticism on social media.
Many Twitter users accused the writer of whitewashing Tinubu’s controversial political career, which includes allegations of corruption and a crackdown on protesters during his time as governor of Lagos.
Here is a cross-section of tweets about the situation:
Please extend our love to Astha Rajvanshi @TIME. Nigerians, including those who don’t support Tinubu, will never attack anyone for writing an article. Those attacking her are the new seamy side of our political culture, a headless mob. Most countries have them these days.

There was no 2023 presidential election in Nigeria. What we had was a daylight robbery. Foreign journalists should stop writing what they know nothing of since they are lazy to research or investigate!
Bola Tinubu did not win the election and Journalists like Astha Rajvanshi…

Dear Astha Rajvanshi, I hope you understand why Nigerians are at rage with you and the Time Magazine.

There is absolutely no reason to go personally ballistics on Astha Rajvanshi, the writer of the Time 100 feature on Tinubu. Instead, use the opportunity to place the damning evidences against Tinubu on the spotlight for her, other writers at Time & their global audience.

This clown, Astha Rajvanshi would be the first person to lead a protest if a drug criminal & money launderer ever contested to the prime minister of India or UK but she’s out here trying to white wash a drug Lord #TinubuIsNotMyPresident #TinubuTheDrugLord pic.twitter.com/TOGEdQbXwy
