DJ Cuppy Launches Scholarship Fund At Oxford University To Support African Students

Foremost Nigerian disc jockey and entertainer, Ifeoluwa Florence Otedola who is better known as DJ Cuppy has donated a £100,000 gift under the Cuppy Africa Scholars Fund for African graduate students at Oxford University.

The Oxford alumna recently revealed that she is proudly launching the “Cuppy Africa Oxford Fund” on her Instagram page.

According to her, this fund is to support and empower any African graduate student of Oxford University.

DJ Cuppy said that this new collaboration means a lot to her, particularly since she just received her MSc from the esteemed institution.

“Proud to launch the Cuppy Africa Oxford Fund! I just graduated from Oxford Uni and so this partnership means a lot to me.

This £100,000 gift is in support of African Graduate students.

It aims to support future leaders from the continent by enabling them to access the necessary skills, resources, and networks to maximize their impact. Over the next 10 years, my hope.is to support those in their education journeys and reach their full potential during their time at Oxford and beyond”.

Dr Anne Makena, co-director of Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx), stated:

We are absolutely delighted that Cuppy is so generously supporting African graduate students here at Oxford.

“We both share the experience of being African graduate students at Oxford and it is a great honour for AfOx to partner with Cuppy to address some of the unique challenges that African students might encounter during their time at Oxford.’

Makena also expressed her wish that the fund would empower graduate students to ‘continue on to remarkable careers as champions of development in African countries and globally.’
