The rush to implement the best AI capabilities in web search has intensified. Google is struggling as a result of the recent introduction of Bing, which is powered by ChatGPT. Even Samsung is now thinking about switching its Galaxy smartphones and tablets over to Bing.

Google is therefore rushing to add AI components to its current search engine and enhance it.

It will reportedly be known as Project ‘Magi’ and is said to provide a far more personalized experience than the company’s current service.

Google currently has over 160 designers, engineers, executives, and other staff working on the project ‘Magi’.

Last week, employees were invited to test the waters for Google’s ‘Magi’ AI on its search engine with a possible launch in May 2023, which sounds like I/O 2023. The launch will see Magi come almost barebones with limited features, with more features coming this fall.

Samsung, which is now in negotiations with Microsoft to make Bing the default search engine on its Galaxy handsets, is to blame for the unexpected rush for an early launch.

Android-powered smartphones and tablets are included in this. Google knew of the discussions taking place between Microsoft and Samsung as well as the South Korean company’s consideration of moving its device search engine to Bing.

Google firmly believes that Samsung’s preference for Microsoft Bing as the default search engine for its Galaxy devices is due to the AI features it provides, as reported by The New York Times.

And Samsung’s consideration of switching to Bing has caused Google to enter “panic mode.”

In order to resist Samsung’s offer, Google is working hard to integrate the Magi AI into its search engine.

There is a chance that Samsung would abandon Microsoft in favor of Google, but only if Google is able to offer something lucrative (like lower license costs for Google Mobile Services). The first million users of Google Magi will only be available in the US.

Later, it will grow to 30 million users by the end of the year.
