IMO: Unknown Gunmen Kill Five Policemen In Deadly Attack

The Imo State government has described as false reports that Governor Hope Uzodimma’s convoy was yesterday attacked by unknown gunmen along Ngor Okpalla-Aba road.

The Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, who debunked the rumour in a statement, said that it was the handwork of mischief-makers.

The statement reads;

Our attention has been drawn to a satanic fabrication by sworn enemies of Imo State and her performing governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, claiming that the governor’s convoy was attacked Saturday by gunmen along Ngor Okpala-Aba road.

Those behind the satanic-driven falsehood and fake news also claimed that seven persons believed to be security aides on the said convoy died in the process and that five government aides to the governor sustained different injuries.

The author of the wicked fabrication further claimed to have spoken to one of the security operatives on condition of anonymity.

For the avoidance of doubt, no such thing happened. Rather, what is at play is nothing but orchestrated falsehood arising from extreme hallucination due to the author’s alliance and communication with the devil.

Governor Uzodimma’s convoy did not move an inch on Saturday because there was no need since His Excellency was busy in the office, from morning till late in the evening, attending to numerous state matters that are dear to his heart and in the interest of the people.

Many trapped as two-storey building collapses in Calabar

A two-storey building under construction has collapsed in Calabar Municipality, the Cross River State capital leaving many trapped and injured on Saturday.

Consequently, an unspecified number of persons injured in the incident have been rescued and taken to medical facilities for treatment as no death has so far been recorded from the building collapse.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations into the incident indicate that the cause of the building collapse is not unconnected to negligence and use of sub-standard building materials which had earlier attracted the attention of the State Ministry of Urban Renewal to issue the Builder an advisory “Stop Work Notice”, which were altogether ignored by the builder.

Furthermore, a statement from the State Ministry of Information and Orientation, signed by Mr Eric Iso Anderson, has assured residents of maximum concerns, assistance and full investigation into the incident to avoid reoccurrence.

The Government of Cross River has noted with great concern the unfortunate incident of the two-storey building that collapsed today at Nta Eke Street, along EFIO-Ette axis of Ikot Ishie in Calabar Municipality of the State.

Government hereby assures residents that full investigation shall be carried out on the incident to checkmate a recurrence in the future while at the same time guaranteeing the safety of lives and property in the State.
