Nigerian skit makers, Mark Angel and Maryam Apaokagi aka Taooma, have emerged as the number one in both male and female categories of skit-making on Instagram in the first quarter of 2023 with 43.7 million views and 22.2 million views respectively.
The number of views their posted skits on Instagram received, according to the quarterly report on the entertainment industry’s skit-making sector published by a digital analytics company, Dataleum, on Wednesday, served as the basis for the analysis.
With 35.0 million views, Emmanuel Chuwkwuemeka Ejekwu, also known as Sabinus, comes in second place to Mark Angel.
Others in the male category include Samuel Perry aka Broda Shaggi with 30.3 million views followed by Agent of Laughter with 22.6 million views and Layiwasabi with 19.3 million.
In contrast, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, aka Kiekie, came in second place in the female category behind Taaooma with a total of 21.4 million views, 2.5 million likes, and 81.5 thousand comments from 29 skits published in the first quarter of 2023.
Bimbo Ademoye, a Nigerian actress, released 22 skits during the first quarter of 2023 and received 15.9 million views, 70.2k comments, and 1.9M likes.
In the top five female categories, Ashmusy comes in second with 7.2 million views, 607.1k likes, 26k comments, and 12 skits, followed by others in the top five female category include Phoebe with 9.7 million views, 984k likes, and 50 comments.
