Ayo Oyalowo, a development Economist and politician has accused the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi of bigotry following his recent statement on the social media platform, Twitter.
Peter Obi on Wednesday, April 5 had published a statement on his social media account to encourage Nigerian youths and others who identify as Obidients to continue to mettle towards achieving a new Nigeria. The presidential candidate who participated in the 2023 presidential election maintained that he is prepared to continue to invest in the development of the nation.
The opening part of his thread read,
“I continue to thank all Nigerians, especially the youths and the Obidients, as they have remained focused on the core mission of a New Nigeria that is POssible even after the February 25, 2023 presidential election.”

Speaking further, Peter Obi went ahead of accuse the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) of using underhand tactics to win the presidential election and also failing to follow due process.
In the latter part of his statement, the Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi spoke about how agriculture and technological revolution can transition the state of the nation. He added that the aim of his campaign is to help “pull millions of Nigerians out of multidimensional poverty especially in the North“, a statement that did not resonate with several pundits on social media.

Reacting, Ayo Oyalowo, a member of the political party, All Progressive Congress (APC) was quick to accuse of being a tribalist. He stated in his post the Labour Party’s presidential candidate cannot hide his animosity towards the north.
