A final year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) identified as Mayor has been shot dead at the institution’s Hall 3 Hostel in what appears to be a cult-related killing.
According to reports gathered, the deceased, ‘Mayor’ was said to be a student of the Department of Public Administration and was shot at about 9pm on Monday night causing panic among students.
As of the time of filing this report, it gathered that his remain had been moved into an ambulance to the mortuary at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

Equally, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a public research university located in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
It is among the universities owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria and was founded in 1970. The School currently has two campuses with fifteen faculties including a central library called the John Harris Library.
