The Federal Government has officially released the white paper report of visitation panels to 42 higher institutions with just days left in President Muhammadu Buhari’s term in office as part of the process to resolve ASUU demands.

One of the requests made by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) during the union’s strike in 2022 was the publishing of the white paper report.

The visitation panel’s mandate included reviewing each institution’s performance in the following areas: governance, academic standards, quality assurance, financial management, relationships between management and staff, and structures of the schools’ infrastructure and educational materials.

The visitation panels were also asked to look into the financial management of the institutions, compliance to procurement laws, and investigate the application of funds particularly the special grants and loans made for specific projects, among others.

However, the government failed to release the report.

However, the white paper reports of 42 higher institutions were released to the public on Thursday by Adamu Adamu, the departing minister of education.

Adamu added that the document’s recommendations were necessary for the efficient operation of institutions.

He said;

I must emphasize that the production of these white papers has demanded significant resources and unwavering effort from the Federal Government.

The Federal Government has entrusted you with this crucial task, and failure to execute it faithfully will not be taken lightly.
