Victor Osimhen has equalled George Weah’s record for the highest African goalscorer in Serie A with 46 goals.
He has also broken Samuel Eto’o’s record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single Serie A Season with 22 goals.
Osimhen achieved this feat on Thursday after he scored a stunning equalizer against Udinese.
He scored the goal that puts Napoli in a position to win the Scudetto this evening and celebrated with such vigour that he broke his trademark protective face mask, while the Stadio Maradona erupted in cheers.
The Nigerian had failed to find the net in three Serie A games, but broke that drought in the most decisive match, cancelling out Sandi Lovric’s opener for Udinese.
They just need a point to secure the title tonight and Osimhen was ready to meet the rebound from a saved Kvicha Kvaratskhelia strike.
GOAL! VICTOR OSIMHEN EQUALIZES.
With this goal, as things stand Napoli are the Serie A champions! #UdineseNapoli

Unfortunately, he was celebrating so wildly with teammates and thousands of travelling fans that he accidentally broke the trademark protective mask.
He wasn’t without it for long, as a spare was fetched by staff on the touchline.
Meanwhile, back at the Stadio Maradona, 50,000 packed into the empty stadium to watch the game on big screens and they erupted when the goal went in.
