Chukwuemeka Eze: Nigerian Engineer Makes UK List For Africa Prize In Engineering Awards
The United Kingdom Royal Academy of Engineering has shortlisted Nigerian electrical engineer and innovator Chukwuemeka Eze for the 2023 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation.
Each of the four countries that produced finalists for this year’s edition—Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda—has previously awarded the Africa Prize.

On behalf of The Royal Academy of Engineering, Sphe Mbuso Nzama, Account Executive (Digital), Proof Communication Africa, released a statement that included information about the UK Academy’s shortlisting process.
Nzama said;
Other three finalists receiving £10,000 each, while two more Nigerians will be competing against each other and nine other innovators, including two Ghanaians for the public voted ‘One to Watch’ Award which carries a £5,000 cash prize.
The Revive Kit was created by Nigerian electrical researcher Chukwuemeka Eze to allow three-wheeled gas motorbikes to be converted to run on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
Drivers can cut their operating costs, such as petrol or petrol, by up to 60% and their maintenance expenditures by 90%. The use of the kit is also taught to technicians by Eze’s business.
Lithium-ion batteries, an AC induction motor, a retrofit shaft, and an electronic controller that serves as the inverter are all components of the Revive Kit. A vehicle-to-home power adaptor is also included.
