Five Nigerians Die In Ongoing Hajj, 30 Diagnosed With Mental Health Challenges

Five Nigerian pilgrims who were taking part in the current Hajj in Saudi Arabia have died, according to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

Usman Galadima, the leader of the NAHCON Hajj medical team, revealed this at a commission meeting on Saturday in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and said that 30 of the patients also struggle with mental health issues.

He named the delegates as coming from Osun and Kaduna states, each sending two, and Plateau State, which registered one.

Galadima revealed that the patients with mental disabilities are presently receiving treatment and would perform Hajj.

According to him, “There are 30 of them with mental health challenges.

“We have been managing them in our facilities. We have about four psychiatrists on the team.

“We have been managing them and all of them would likely perform hajj because they are a bit stable now.”
