This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, titled, “President Tinubu to participate in Paris summit for new global financial pact.”
While in Paris, the President will “participate, review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on the priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement read.
The two-day Summit, which will take place on June 22 and 23, will look at ways to give countries—particularly the most indebted ones—fiscal freedom once again.
Leaders will also stimulate growth in low-income nations, mobilise creative funding for nations vulnerable to climate change, and promote spending on “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in rising and developing economies.
The recovery of economies from the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact and rising cases of poverty will be examined more holistically, according to Alake, by the President and other world leaders, multilateral institutions, financial experts, and economists, with the goal of facilitating access to finance and investment that will accelerate inclusive growth.
Tinubu, who returns on Saturday, will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials.
